The Future

2020 is a year that prior to it coming around, held something of an underlying theme to someone trained as an ophthalmologist since saying "twenty, twenty" is widely and generally understood as referring to a desirable state of essentially normal vision.

Vision for the future; except that the vision required to see the future has nothing whatsoever to do with the eyes. In fact the future is something that much of my reading this year had started to bring into focus as something that was more illusion or construct than something real.

Most people would order the sequence of time in their minds such that the past is behind and the future ahead of them. It surprises them that some humans or cultures have seen it the opposite way - such that the past is in front of them since it is something they have seen and done already and the future which they can't see is behind them.

Yet time reveals itself to some people who examine it further to be an illusion of the mind. That there is actually only one point in time - an everlasting present - with any apparent flow or movement through "time" merely a construct of the human mind that is as much a means of survival as any other pervasive thought or mechanism of consciousness designed so.

The future is both for these people and for those who think of it conventionally, a potential which is unrealised as yet.

For it to be realised, the motions at play in the present unfold their destinations in the physical world; but the hidden or unseen plays a role here also - chiefly in the form of intentions and promises.

The future for humans is built upon the edifice of promises and is only as bright or sure as what our minds can make it. With truth and integrity as its foundation then the future is just as solid and reliable as the present in which the builders of that future remain steadfast in keeping the essential thing that makes the future so.

Promises. The promise of truth is what the future is built upon. When the truth becomes absent, when promises are broken, when intentions are deviated the future collapses into chaos.

The "twenty, twenty" future requires integrity and minds that understand the key to unlocking its potential fully; by keeping all promises and basing everything on truth and true measures.

The God has provided detailed instructions on how everyone can achieve success by establishing these principles in a pervasive way in their lives. Ultimately it all starts with establishing righteous intentions and then keeping the promise to make it so.
