The burden...

The sovereign or ruler will say that to be at the top is a burden.

Those below will sometimes say, then let us relieve you of that burden.

The response will never be one of compliance.

Is it a true burden or an imagined one?

The real world shows us that true burdens - ie weight, disease, discomfort are left behind very readily if anyone is given the choice.

We are always at a struggle to relieve ourselves of burdens in reality.

So it seems that the burden of rulers (or wealth for that matter) is an imaginary construct to help the ruler and the ruled settle with the status quo. Only when viewed this way does the situation allow some degree of comfort on both sides.
