Apple's Retina Display

As a long time Apple user and professed gadget fanatic  it probably goes without saying that I picked up the original iPad as well as its two successors on the day of their release.

The new iPad or iPad 3 boasts a display technology that Apple has made a great deal out of; and for good reason. I had hoped that the Retina technology would have been present on the second model, but it makes sense that the display required the benefit of a better battery and faster processor in order to make it possible.

I had enjoyed the Retina technology on the iPhone 4S, so was familiar with the experience but even after more than a month the new iPad display still delights me with its incredible resolution.

To the point that my 24" Eizo Graphics monitor which I used to enjoy working on very much has become positively ancient and unviewable. It sounds strange but I prefer working on the smaller screen of the iPad due to its crisp display than a larger monitor. The same is true of the 11" MacBook Air which I can still tolerate.

There you are. A warning to those who have not made the Retina leap.
